Jonathan Traub, Solidarity 771, is surely right that the left has little to say about match-fixing. Although political corruption and competition advantage may play a role, the wider context is surely the amount of money that can be made from bets placed on a fixed outcome. Without the huge profit made by the gambling industry, both officially and unofficially from competitive sport, there would be nothing like the level of match-fixing we see today.
