Edd Bauer, the Birmingham Guild of Students sabbatical officer undemocratically suspended from office after he was arrested for taking part in a protest at the Lib Dem conference in September, has been reinstated. (For more about the story, see here and here.)
This comes after a national campaign by student activists, in particular the National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts. It is a major victory for student union democracy and for the right to organise and protest.
Activists in Birmingham, and the NCAFC, are now campaigning against a year-long injunction banning all protests on the campus which the university obtained from the High Court shortly before Edd was reinstated: see here.
