Support the Middlesex University UCU and Unison strike on Tuesday 4 October, opposing 300 job losses. There are as yet no guarantees against compulsory redundancies.

Please send messages of support to UCU branch secretary J.Hammond@mdx.ac.uk and Unison branch secretary Paul Howell on UNISON1@mdx.ac.uk. See Middlesex University Unison blog: http://mdxbranchlines.blogspot.com/

There will be picket lines at the three sites - Hendon, Trent Park and Archway - from 8-10am.

The students union MUSU will close its offices for the day in solidarity and officers will join the picket lines.

They have issued a statement:

MUSU fully supports Unison in its continuing struggle against the cuts. MUSU passed a motion 'Oppose cuts throughout the public sector' on October 20th last year that stated:

'The Union Resolves:

1) To mandate the Students’ Union Executive to oppose all cuts.

2) To work with and support the campus Trade Unions in their struggle against cuts.'

MUSU sabbaticals will be around the picket lines on the day to inform students as to why we are supporting this action.
