Cuts

Members of the National Union of Teachers at Rawmarsh school in Rotherham will be striking on 5, 12, and 13 January to save jobs.

The governors have decided to make redundencies at the school, The original proposal was to cut 30 members of staff, including 20 teaching staff, with some jobs going by April.

Thanks to the NUT's threat of action, the timeline has been changed to the end of the year. But no reduction has been offered on the number of jobs to be cut.

The ballot was unanimous, and members are feeling confident, but the NUT is the smaller union, and staff feel under a lot of pressure.

It's a clear example that real funding cuts are affecting schools. Please send messages of solidarity to ralphdyson@yahoo.co.uk.
