It looks like white smoke coming from the chimney of the room where the "No2EU" groups - Communist Party of Britain (Morning Star), Bob Crow and other RMT leaders, the Socialist Party, and Alliance for Green Socialism - have been in conference since June.
We understand that this self-described "core group" meets again on 5 October to firm up previous tentative agreements, which include:
- a "class based" name (rather than "No2EU" of similar) for a joint slate in the General Election;
- agreed core policy points;
- bringing in other groups.
Respect (Galloway) and the SWP ave given signals that they want to be involved.
The RMT leaders have announced a conference on 7 November entitled "Crisis in Working-Class Political Representation, at which the slate is likely to be given a public launch.
Unfortunately the conference is "non-motions-based" and "non-binding", and RMT branches have had no part in, or information about, the "son of No2EU" talks.
