Motions on left antisemitism, the Hijab in schools, and social security and Labour's policy, were all submitted to AWL conference 2019. The conference decided that the first of these motions - on left antisemitism - should not be voted on, after a debate; the second, on the Hijab in schools, fell; the third - on social security - were not voted on, as decided before any debate.
Socialists should use the leadeship election to argue and organise for a campaigning, democratic Labour Party, for socialist policies and politics, and for migrants’ rights, free movement and internationalism. As yet, sadly, we don’t have a candidate on whom to “hook” that argument.
The Israeli army has killed 25 Palestinians, and injured hundreds more, after Israeli Defence Force (IDF) snipers opened fire on two demonstrations on Israel’s border with the Palestinian territory of Gaza, on Friday 30 March and Friday 6 April.
A rising mood that cuts are not inevitable, a rising anger against economic inequality, and a rising confidence that alternatives are possible, has damaged the Tories in recent months.
