LAMENT OF AN UNFASHIONABLE POLITICIAN
I'm a figure of hatred, believe it or not,
And for many I've not even met!
I'm fit subject for loathing and hissing and spite:
Ah, but why? Tell me why. I forget!
I philosophise too, oh, of course, yes I do,
Tell myself that it just does not count:
It can feel bloody awful — sometimes I despair
Of my will to prevail and surmount.
Yes I do, sure I do: not for long, it is true!
Spew your spite, go on, do — eff you too!
