United front, transitional demands, workers' government: these were three key ideas formulated by revolutionary socialists in the early 1920s as they fought to turn the tide against restabilisation of capitalist power after the upheavals around the end of World War One.

They should be part of our arsenal today as we oppose the drive by capitalist governments to get through the crisis which opened in 2007-8 by redoubling neoliberalism.

This book reviews those strategic debates of the early 1920s and suggests lessons for our times.
