Educators’ Fightback is a rank and file socialist blog written by education workers for education workers. It is published by the socialist group Workers’ Liberty but is open to all workers and activists who share our basic outlook.
What is that basic outlook?
• fiercely pro-union but independent of union head office and bureaucracy
• for a militant union committed to fight and win in the workplace and at a national and local level
• for one union for all education workers as the strongest, most effective means of organising
• for a free, comprehensive, inclusive and secular education system
• for education to be under full public ownership and democratic control without any private companies or profits
• for education that ‘lights a fire’ in our students and not one that ‘fills a pail’
• for workers’ rights and free independent unions for our siblings across the globe — east and west, north and south
• for solidarity with our fellow educators internationally in their struggles for better pay and conditions and for democracy and workers’ rights
• for a democratic union led at every level by workers elected by members
• for active measures to combat inequality in our workplaces and society whether based on race, gender, sexuality or disability
