Sick or what?

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

A driver's wife has a stroke and needs three brain operations. Over this very difficult and stressful period, the driver continues to attend work, having just a little time off with domestic leave. He also has six shifts off sick, adding up to two items, so ... management give him a warning. And uphold it on appeal.

They're all heart, LUL management.

This appalling case certainly gives you an insight into management's agenda with their new attendance and discipline policies. If they get them through, any one of us could be next in line for their callous, disciplinarian, inhuman bullying. All the more reason to fight it.

A member of station staff suffers a stroke at work. Just three weeks later, while she still has no movement in her left arm, management make her come in for a meeting with their medical people.

She didn't need medical care from the company(!), so we can only assume the purpose was to push her back to work or out of the door as soon as possible.

Get the impression that now full-time station staff have 10½ weeks leave, management are determined that you will be at work for the remaining 41½ weeks no matter how unfit for duty you might be?
