Canteen Company Sodexo tried awarding pay rises to their favourite LU canteen workers only. But the RMT canteen worker' rep organised the others to submit grievances for their pay too. Sodexo had to cough up.
But the anti-union firm took revenge by withholding the rep's £500 back-pay.
So RMT is supporting the rep at Employment Tribunal. Sodexo would rather pay thousands in legal costs for the sake of robbing a rep's £500! Being anti union is practically a principle to this company.
That's why it's so important that RMT recruited over 50% of the workforce into the union, which obliges the company to recognise RMT. Sodexo had better stop messing around and sign the recognition deal. Having a strong, organised union is the only way to make them change their tune.
