TfL: Missing Money

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

With most unions accepting TfL's strings-loaded pay offer, staff were expecting a 4.2% pay rise for 2012, on a par with their LUL workmates. But some have found they got just 3.7%.

The explanation is that the small print of the deal says that the extra 0.5% is dependent on meeting performance targets - but staff were led to believe that this was a token target that everyone always gets. So imagine our surprise and disgust when we discovered that some of us didn't get it, regardless of our performance, because our whole grade was excluded! To add insult to injury, those who missed out - eg. Travel Information Centre staff - are also those who did not get any Olympic bonus despite the extra workload and leave restrictions.

This pay 'deal' is a farce. The unions that accepted it should now withdraw their acceptance and unite with RMT - which did not accept it - in demanding a decent, inflation-plus pay rise, without strings, for all TfL staff.
