Is There An Engineer In The House?

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

At Stratford Station, 10 passengers, including 5 children, were recently trapped in a lift.

After lift communications failed for the second time that week, the first the station knew was when the Fire Brigade turned up, who had been phoned by the passengers themselves!

Doors were forced open to pass water to the passengers while they were trapped inside for over an hour.

It took 45 minutes for the engineer to arrive on-site. Amazing to think that just three months ago, thanks to an event taking place not a million miles from this incident, engineers were on standby everywhere!

LU, Tube Lines and Accord, who maintain the lifts, have proven they can do it over the Olympics. We need fully maintained stations assets and more engineers on-hand to deal with what quickly become traumatic passenger incidents.
