Give G4S Workers A Break!

At the start of the year, security company Loomis lost the contract for collecting cash from LU ticket offices. Brinks took over, promising the earth on a shoestring.

They cut staff from two to one per shift and scheduled too many collections in too little time. They couldn't deliver what they'd promised. They missed their time slot for collecting money from stations every day.

G4S (Group 4 Security) have taken over Brinks' contract. They are sticking to their deadlines. But only by squeezing every last drop of energy from their staff.

G4S haven't even given enough time to their workers to do the LU contract, so workers just have to do the LU work on top of their existing workload. They are literally running from job to job with sweat on their brow!

Security workers who collect cash from LU are doing work that is valuable to the service LU provides. But that doesn't stop their bosses inflicting constant pressure and stress on them! We need to show solidarity with them - perhaps start by asking our employer, LU, why they insist on awarding the contract to the lowest bidder? LU may live in a dreamland where ticket offices have no custom. But we know they're busy and generate a lot of cash. The workers who collect it deserve a break!
