Tubelines Lift and Escalator engineers have been told they can't book annual leave during the Olympics, and yet they are still not clear whether they will get a bonus.
With stations open nearly all night, there won't be time do maintenance in engineering hours. Engineers will just have to be on stand-by throughout the day.
In busy times, just one escalator out of service causes serious congestion and can result in stations closing.
Having engineers on-hand will be essential for the Games. If this work is so essential, why not reward it?
