Last Thursday night, a Picc line train lost its pilot light at Piccadilly Circus. It turned out that a single door and a set of double doors in the rear car were open.
Of course the train was taken out of service, but you might have expected an immediate notice from management telling drivers what was going on, or the fleet being called in to be thoroughly checked, maybe? Well no ... Not until 25 drivers refused to drive the following morning!
What's more, this incident makes a mockery of LU's policy of the driver making a PA and expecting passengers to pull the PEA if there is a door open. So management have conceded that we can revert to the old rule, and physically check the train, if we want to. Of course we want to: we seem to remember not wanting to rely on PAs in the first place!
