Tube Lines: Here Come the Job Cuts

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

A leak has shown that hundreds of job cuts are coming on Tube Lines. So ... the bosses mess up, the workers pay the price. Typical.

After proving our strength earlier this year, Tube Lines workers now need to prepare for a fight on a much larger scale. We can fight alongside our workmates in London Underground, and tie the two battles to defend jobs into one concerted fight.

Tubeworker is a little disturbed by Unite's statement suggesting that its main goal is to prevent compulsory redundancies, and that they want to work with the company to smooth the passage of job cuts, hopefully avoiding industrial action. We hope that RMT is made of sterner stuff, and encourage Unite members to demand that their union fights not just compulsory redundancies but job cuts, and gears up to take, rather than avoid, industrial action.
