The Road to Damascus

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

On a Monday in late July, St. Paul's station was left with duties uncovered due to guess what? Management's deliberate running-down of staffing levels in preparation for job cuts.

Mid-afternoon, there was just one SS, one SAMF and one CSA on duty, all running round like headless chickens trying to do a million things at once in a vain attempt to assist the queueing, and increasingly agitated, passengers, to keep the machines in full service and deal with passengers' various problems.

Some passengers had to be allowed to travel without tickets, and NOC had to be advised of a reduced ticket-issuing facility at the station. St. Paul had a revelation on the road to Damascus - will LUL now have a revelation that its policy of cutting staff as a 'money saving' measure might just be a false economy?!
