No GLAP? No Gateline Work!

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

Staff on Wembley Central group stations are refusing to work on the gateline on safety grounds as management refuse to provide them with a place of safety.

Unlike other stations, the gatelines at these stations do not have a GLAP (GateLine Assistance Point), a box where you can take refuge if you are threatened or in danger. Funnily enough, a batch of them are languishing in a store cupboard, but management appear to be in no hurry to get them out and install them as the electrics are not yet sorted.

So CSAs have exercised their legal right to refuse to work in conditions where they have a genuine health and safety concern. Management are rattled, and union reps (with one unimpressive exception) are backing the CSAs.

Stand your ground - you're an example to all of us!
