Beware: Managers on Walkabout

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

Bullshit detectors to hand, everyone, as various senior managers drag themselves out from behind their desks to try to persuade us of the virtues of doing away with our jobs.

Tubeworker predicts ... current economic climate ... blah blah ... need to provide value for money ... blah blah ... changes in ticket-buying behaviour ... blah blah ... passengers don't really need our help ... blah blah ... standing round with nothing to do ... blah blah ... sensible plan worked out by very clever people ... blah blah ... times change ... blah blah ... None of which is an actual justification for stripping the Tube of the staff it needs.

If you have the joy of being collared by a senior manager on a PR walkabout, trying asking him/her this question. How come, given the current economic climate / need to rpovide value for money / changing times / etc, London Underground can afford to keep senior managers but not to keep the staff who actually keep the railway running?

If you don't fancy that, you could also point out that you are far too busy meeting the demands of the travelling public to listen to their nonsense.

Tell them you can't huddle as your too busy - as much as you'd like to discuss how good for the company it'll be for you to be sacked.

Or perhaps they'll do it under the guise of a team talk?
