Defending Agreements, Defending Jobs

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

On the weekend the Northern Line was closed between Golders Green and Euston, local reps had assurances that no one would be moved from Hampstead and Belsize Park, both section 12 stations. The Framework Agreement says staff cannot be moved (except for unanticipated situations, which this was not).

But the amended duties told staff to work at Golders Green, even though Golders had enough staff, including SRT. Ignoring protests from staff and local reps, management went ahead anyway. Reps and the branch have requested an emergency meeting.

This might all sound small-fry as we go into a major fight over station staffing levels, but these issues will rear their head again with the planned closures on the Northern Line. Little battles pave the way for big ones. LU doesn’t deserve to be trusted an inch at the moment; every little concession we make in how our staff are deployed now will ease their restructuring plans. Let’s stand up for agreements to defend our jobs!
