Bonus balls up – again!

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

It’s this time of year again and management once again are playing guessing games – will we get our new bonus or not? First they tell us with 79 points we’re ‘on track’ for £250; now we’re at 80 and if we maintain this performance through the final quarter, we will get the £500.

It’s the third year now and we are well and truly weary of these antics. We all know it’s political. It is designed to divide and demoralise us, which it would, if we could not see through it.

Don’t mistake us, we don’t mind taking the money. But if they are prepared to pay out £250, why were they so reluctant to give in to the unions’ demand for a decent pay rise? If RMT had held out for more negotiations, Tubeworker would have argued that they money they were stumping up for the bonus be given to us as a lump sum pay rise that would be included in our pay packet year on year. We deserve a decent pay rise, not these petty games!

This bonus came in with the previous pay package, but we should not just accept it. The unions need to keep fighting it!
