Jumble Sale to Fund the Underground

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

London Underground are really scraping the barrel now to make cuts. Unclaimed lost property used to be auctioned off once a year to raise money for the widows and orphans fund. Now they have decided they can't afford to do their bit for charity, and will instead sell off the items to fund the running of the lost property office. The amount of revenue they will raise from this enterprise will be a drop in the ocean compared to the money they need to plug the debt run up by PPP. And they will attract a lot of bad publicity if this gets out. They don't seem bothered about PR, however, where cost-cutting is involved.
