Will LUL Management Help Transmit Swine Flu?

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on Mon, 13/07/2009 - 10:13,

Swine flu has hit London Underground staff, but there is still no clear statement from management that absences will not count as an item under the Attendance policy.

The potential consequences of this are frightening. Under the regime of fear created by the Attendance policy, staff could be so scared of disciplinary action that they come to work with swine flu, and risk infecting both fellow workers and the travelling public. The London Underground network could be a transmission belt for the pandemic around London.

As there have already been fatalities from this illness, this is literally a life-and-death issue.

Click on this link to see TfL tell the press that it will be OK if loads of London's transport workers go off sick because loads of passengers would also be off sick, so the reduced serivces wouldn't matter.

It's lovely to see how much they care about the health and well-being of their staff and passengers. You couldn't make it up.

I asked my TOM regarding this, and she informed me that the attendance at work policy would be inforce with this, and it also states on the Intranet it would also be in place, I simply informed her that if I was to get this flu, I would continue to come to work, and it would simply spread as I will not be an easy target to get rid of.
