Phew, Wot a Scorcher

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

Of late, a few sweltering days have made the wearing of ties very uncomfortable for station staff amongst others. Tubeworker reckons that if it you can't wear it comfortably, then take it off.

So how does London Underground deal with this? Generally, NOC issues a Hot Weather declaration, announcing that everyone is allowed to go tie-less. But it makes little sense to us to have a single announcement that covers everyone. Conditions on, say, a deep-level platform in a crowded central London station may be very different from those on an open-section station 20 miles away. NOC are not in a great position to judge.

Here's an idea - How about LUL trust its own staff and our reps to decide when we believe that it is too hot to wear ties comfortably?!
