Cleaners overlooked - again

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

As part of the refurb at Tottenham Court Road, London Underground have recently taken over a subway that used to belong to Camden Council. There is no gate to block this subway from the street, so it is open all night long for people to pee in, sleep in and the rest of it. The subway used to be industrially cleaned by Camden Council each morning. Now, London Underground cleaners employed by ISS have to wade through the night's pee with a mop and bucket, trying in vain to clean it up.

The workers at the bottom of London Underground's pile, with least ability to stand up for themselves have been overlooked, while London Underground does its big dealings with the retailers and Camden Council. We will try to complain to ISS, but suspect their attitude will be the same as it always is about the welfare and conditions of its staff.
