Vic Line Drivers To Strike

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

Vic Line drivers at Seven Sisters have voted 82-17 to strike over a 'breakdown of industrial relations' at the depot - a piece of jargon that in this case means management's sacking of a workmate, refusal to install CSDE kit, victimisation of a prominent RMT activist, and the persecution of sick staff.

Drivers' anger was further stoked by another unfair sacking at the depot. The result shows that these drivers are no longer willing to stand for rampant management bullying and lack of concern for basic safety and rights.

It appears that LUL has not yet found a silly pretext on which to have this action declared illegal, so it goes ahead on 21/22 April. Tubeworker recommends that Vic drivers form a strike committee both to make sure that the action is as effective as possible, and to ensure that RMT's leadership knows how they want the strike run.

ASLEF should join this fight too. Sure, the particular drivers being victimised are RMT members, but the CSDE issues affects us all, whatever union. So if ASLEF's leadership don't to the right thing, then ASLEF members should respect RMT picket lines.
