One At A Time Please

A cutting to the west of Acton Town needs stabilising. Metronet bosses have come up with a bright idea for how to organise the work - but although they have convinced themselves that their idea is safe, it is far from it.

The plant will be moved onto the site during engineering hours, but the work will be done during traffic hours. So how will workers get to the site? Get this ... A Protection Master will stand on the cutting side, and in between trains, will call over workers one at a time. On your marks, get set, hurry up and don't for gawd's sake trip over.

Now, a sensible person might suggest that a temporary footbridge would allow access that would be both quicker and safer. So why not? Couldn't be anything to do with cash, could it?!
