Strike To Defend Sacked DMT. Vote Yes.

Drivers and duty managers at Morden depot are to ballot for strike action to demand that LUL reinstate Duty Manager Trains Sarah Appleby.

Sarah left work to look after her sick mother, and unknown to her, was summoned to an 'unannounced' drugs and alcohol test in her absence. She took - and passed - the test the next day, but LUL was not about to let the facts get in the way of an opportunity to sack a popular DMT who is also an RMT member.

Management upheld this grossly unfair sacking, leaving depot staff with no choice but to ballot for strike action. Tubeworker firmly expects ASLEF members to join in, as Morden has a particularly strong tradition of cross-union solidarity.

It's not often that workers rally to the support of a manager, so it must be a worthy cause.
