Irregular Cycle

We have reported previously about contractors' failure to empty sanitary bins often enough.

Now it turns out that Metronet has cut the frequency with which it empties the sanitary bins on stations from two weeks (which was already too long a wait) to four weeks.

Four weeks?! Are they having a laugh?! Metronet seems to think that this is often enough because it usually takes that long for the bins to fill up. But the issue is not how quickly they fill up, but what happens to the waste inside them.

We can be sure that if senior managers had to use a toilet with four-week-old used sanitary towels in the bin, they would soon be ordering some minion to come and empty them.

This is an issue of health and safety for all workers - and of dignity at work for women.
