A new low in TSSA

The undemocratic shenanigans in the TSSA sunk to a new low at its national conference last week.

Believe it or not, the union's Executive decided to ban the union's President from chairing the conference, even though that is their constitutional role! When said President, Adam Wilson, attempted to chair the conference anyway, he was shouted down by members of the TSSA leadership and ejected from the conference. Even the police were called, although they were a bit bemused when they arrived and soon left, saying that it was none of their business. Adam has since been suspended from the Executive.

This is just the latest episode in a shocking litany of anti-democratic actions by the TSSA leadership, including a branch being put into 'special measures' (a provision that no-one in the TSSA has heard of before) and its delegates being barred from the conference.

With one branch already holding a special meeting about this crisis, it seems that the TSSA's rank and file are stepping up their opposition to its bureaucracy.
