Azadeh Neman speaking about Iran solidarity

Azadeh Neman, delegate from Bromley District, made two speeches about solidarity. with Iranian educators at the National Education Union's 2026 annual conference.

The union's National Executive Committee had submitted a 'priority motion opposing the USA and Israel's wars against Iran and other countries, but which did not include solidarity with Iranian workers against the regime.

Azadeh countered this by speaking against Amendment 1 and, crucially, in favour of Amendment 4 to this motion. Amendment 4 was passed, giving NEU policy in solidarity with Iranian workers against both war and the Iranian regime.
