Interserve must reinstate Kostatin!

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

Interserve have sacked Upminster cleaner Kostanin for missing a return-to-work meeting scheduled during his annual leave.

As RMT explains, "Kostatin had two weeks leave booked, during which he travelled abroad to visit family. Unfortunately he was ill the week before his holiday and provided the employer with a note from his GP.

"Whilst he was out of the country on holiday, Interserve sent him a letter inviting him to a return to work meeting which was scheduled during his pre-booked leave. Obviously he didn't see this letter and was unable to attend the meeting due to being abroad. Therefore Interserve sent another letter terminating his employment."

This is yet another example of Interserve's callous attitude to its employees, treating them like disposable commodities.

RMT has called a demo outside Kostatin's appeal hearing on Wednesday 23 August. Please assemble with flag, banners, etc., at 13:30 outside Capital Towers, 91 Waterloo Rd, SE1 8RT.
