Wot No Bonus?

Our beloved leader Tim O'Toole has written to us again. Bless him for taking time out of his busy schedule to keep us informed of the state of play of our magnificent system.

The latest bulletin was to tell us what we already knew, that there was not going to be a bonus this year (or any other, but he will let us know about that later.)

He stated that there will be no CSS bonus this year for any of us. I wonder what bonuses him and his cronies managed to pay themselves?

We have always opposed bonus schemes because they do not form part of your pensionable pay and can always be taken away. They are used as a divide-and-rule tool by unscrupulous managements to drive down the pay and conditions of the workforce while sweating more out of them.

LUL's bonus scheme is worse than most. We have no control over the elements that make up the scoring for the payments. He says in his bulletin that we failed to reach targets because Metronet failed to de-stress the rails, we had problems introducing new timetables (which we told them were unworkable) and we had record levels of demand. Great: other people cock up and we don't get the bonus.

The closure of ticket offices is going to have a big impact on CSS scores. We have already seen a significant fall on the East Ham Group since the ticket office closures.

This will inevitably be passed on to other areas if we do not stop the closures. We do not want the bonus scheme. We want real pensionable pay that can be relied on month after month. When this derisery 3-year deal is seen out we must address this issue.
