Shocking Attitude To Safety

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

Literally shocking, as a Bakerloo driver had to go to hospital after getting an electric shock from the Train Ready to Start Plunger in Harrow & Wealdstone Sidings.

Hospital, pah! No need to, erm, take the plunger out of commission, eh? Just keep on using it until we are sure what's wrong. That was management's course of action - despite the fact that similar incidents have happened before, and that it has previoulsy been raised at meetings between Network Rail and Bakerloo Line managers.

Finally, five days later, a Service Control Manager saw sense and decommissioned the plunger pending further tests. Hey, you can contact the signaller via the SPT, and not take the risk of winding up in hospital.
