For several years now, LUL and JNP management have been scratching their heads about how to solve the problem of sunlight preventing the monitors doing their job and obscuring the drivers' view of the PTI at various stations on the Piccadilly line.
Finally, their combined intellects have identified the solution. A big mirror. Yes, a big mirror.
Unsurprisingly, staff had been suggesting that for ages, but management's new technology obsessives could ot swallow the fact that their state-of-the-art monitors had been trumped by a silver-backed sheet of glass.
The problem now is that, thanks to PPP red tape, it could take 18 months to get the things in place. And udring that time - which includes two long, hot summers - station staff will have to stand on the platform giving the right.
Not comedy, but tragedy.
